A Curious Human’s Guide to Full Moon Rituals
Simple practices to help you reflect, release, and reconnect with what’s real.
You don’t have to be “woo” to feel the full moon.
You just have to be human.
Because whether or not you follow astrology, the full moon tends to stir something in us. Emotions rise. Truths surface. Restlessness builds.
And for many of us, there’s a quiet invitation to pause and pay attention.
I didn’t always feel this way.
Despite being raised by people who found deep meaning in lunar cycles, I never looked at the moon with awe—or saw it as something I could learn from.
But it’s often in our darkest moments that we meet our most meaningful guides.
And for me, that guide was the moon.
🌒 My moon story
During the years I struggled with infertility, I searched for every hack, healer, and helper I could find—like the strong-willed, high-capacity 7w8 I am. I was determined to create a miracle.
But to my surprise, the most meaningful medicine I found wasn’t in a protocol or a plan.
It was in the sky.
The moon is intrinsically connected to the female reproductive cycle, and this celestial body became a mirror, a teacher, and a soft, steady, mothering force when I needed one most.
During that season, I began hosting small women’s circles in my living room—gathering with others navigating the quiet heartbreak of trying to conceive. We learned to attune to the moon’s rhythm through ritual, movement, and breath.
It didn’t fix everything. But it gave me something I hadn’t realized I was missing: a sense of timing. A sense of grace. A sense of belonging to something cyclical and alive.
That’s why I return to the moon each month—not for answers, but for connection and deep remembering.
And I want to offer you a way to do the same.
🌕 Why the full moon matters
Spiritually, full moons symbolize illumination, culmination, and release—a moment to see what’s been building, and to let go of what’s no longer aligned.
Energetically, full moons offer a natural time to exhale.
To ask:
What’s true for me right now?
What am I ready to release?
What still wants to grow?
When we pause to notice, we begin to heal. Not through force—but through attention.
🕯 A full moon ritual that actually feels good
You don’t need a fancy altar or perfect setting.
You just need presence—and a little space to land.
Set aside 10–20 minutes for this ritual. That’s enough.
Here’s what I often guide myself (and others) through on the full moon:
1. Create space to feel.
Dim the lights. Light a candle. Close the tabs, the doors, the expectations.
Let your body arrive.
2. Soften your system.
Unclench your jaw. Drop your shoulders.
Take a breath and let your body know: We’re safe here.
3. Notice your breath.
Without changing it, just notice. The inhale. The exhale.
Let it sound like a wave—steady, rhythmic, real.
Stay here for a few moments.
4. Ask: What’s true for me right now?
Let the question rise through your body, not your mind.
Journal it. Whisper it. Hold it in stillness.
There are no wrong answers.
5. Name what’s ready to be released.
A belief. A habit. A heaviness.
Write it down. Tear it up. Burn it safely.
Let it leave you—one breath, one exhale at a time.
6. Close with gratitude.
You showed up. You softened. You listened.
That’s enough.
💖 For the tender-hearted
Some full moons feel big. Emotional. Raw.
If that’s you, simplify. Sit by the window. Place your hand on your heart. Spend some time in nature.
Say to yourself: I am here. That is enough.
There’s no gold star for going deep.
You don’t have to be mystical. You just have to be honest.
